Found a $60 fix for my attic heat problem, took me 2 summers to figure out
I kept complaining about my upstairs bedrooms being 10 degrees hotter than the rest of the house every July. Tried new blinds, a bigger window unit, even those reflective roof coatings. Then my neighbor who flips houses in Decatur told me to check the attic soffit vents, turns out half of mine were blocked by old blown insulation. Spent a Saturday with a broom handle and a leaf blower clearing them out. Also added a cheap gable fan from Home Depot for about $60. Last week it hit 97 degrees and my upstairs stayed within 3 degrees of the thermostat setting. Has anyone else had luck with just cleaning out their soffits before buying expensive attic fans?

Did your neighbor have the same issue with his flip houses?
