I finally fixed my steep driveway drainage after a neighbor's offhand tip saved me $1,800
Water was pooling at the bottom of my driveway after storms and starting to creep toward the garage slab. I got a quote from a guy in Marietta who wanted $1,800 to tear out the concrete and re-pour. My next door neighbor Dave, who has lived here since 1998, watched me stressing over it and said to just check the downspout extension first. Turns out my downspout was dumping right at the top of the slope. I spent $14 on a 12 foot flex extension at the hardware store and ran it out to the curb, and the standing water stopped within two storms. Dave saved me almost two grand with one sentence while I was out there with a shovel. Now I am wondering how many other "big" fixes around the house have a dumb simple answer hiding in plain sight. Anyone else get bailed out by a neighbor who knew your house better than any contractor?
