Spent $400 on a foundation repair that did nothing...
I hired a guy from a local ad to fix a crack in my slab foundation over in Decatur back in March. He came out, injected some epoxy, and charged me $400 cash saying it was a lifetime fix. Two weeks later the crack opened up wider and I even saw water seeping through after a storm. I called him back and he ghosted me completely. Has anyone else dealt with foundation scammers around here or found a legit contractor who actually stands behind their work?

Learned that lesson the hard way too, cash only guys are always a gamble.

Oh great, another membership in the "spent way too much on a useless fix" club. I'm the president of that club after paying $300 for a "guaranteed" gutter repair that washed away in the first heavy rain. For foundation work, you gotta dig into the company's history and make sure they have a real address and insurance, not just a guy with a van and a cash-only policy. Next time try asking around at a local lumber yard or hardware store, the old timers there usually know who's been around for twenty years and who's just passing through. And hey, at least your crack let some water in, mine just left a bigger dent in my wallet and my pride.

Man that sucks so bad. It's wild how this whole "cash only quick fix" thing is everywhere now, not just with houses. I see it with car repairs too, people paying some guy $200 to patch a tire and it blows out a week later. It's like everyone's chasing a bargain but forgetting that if someone can't take a credit card or write a real receipt, they're probably not planning on being around tomorrow. The whole system's gotten so shady you almost have to treat every random contractor like they're gonna vanish until they prove otherwise.
