OEM part vs the $40 Amazon special I gambled on for a bumper cover

The cheap one cracked in 2 weeks when a shopping cart tapped it in a Kroger lot, but the OEM part took a hit from a rogue snowplow in Buffalo last January and only scuffed the clear coat, so has anyone else learned that lesson the expensive way?
