Showerthought: Water-based paint adoption feels slower than expected

I was at a trade show last week and everyone was talking about water-based paints. But when I chat with shop owners, many still use solvent-based stuff. It reminds me of how in roofing, we had a hard time switching to new materials too. The water-based stuff dries faster and is better for the air, but the finish can be tricky to get right. I saw a demo where the color match was off, so maybe that's why. Overall, I think it's a cost and skill thing holding us back.

But that demo might have been a fluke. The tech has gotten way better, and most places I know are switching over without issues. Plus, with air quality rules, it's kinda inevitable.

Look at the part about the color match being off in the demo. That's crazy to me. How can they expect people to switch if they can't even get the basic color right?

Bet they botched it on purpose to track how many people even notice.

Wait, they got the color wrong on purpose? That's a wild thing to do just to see if people are paying attention, like @tessap73 said. It feels pretty disrespectful to the folks who have to live with the results. You can't just mess with someone's home like it's some kind of test. What if someone spent a lot of money on their place and now it looks off? That's not a small detail to play games with.
