Used to call 6 brokers for one car, now I just check the FMCSA lookup first
Back in 2019 I'd spend a whole Saturday getting quotes from 6 different brokers for a move from Dallas to Denver and they all landed within $50 of each other anyway. Now I pull the DOT number, check for a real carrier versus a reseller, and only call two, so what made you stop shopping around?
Why would you stop at two brokers when the whole point is that they all come in within $50 anyway? I get checking the DOT number first so you skip the resellers, but the price spread barely moves no matter how many you call. Two calls feels like the sweet spot, and honestly the third one just wastes your afternoon.
