Bought a $60 GPS map subscription for a trip in Colorado and it was useless without cell service

That's a real bummer. Did the app's description say it needed cell service to work, or was it advertised as a proper offline map? I've seen some that just give you turn-by-turn directions without the actual map data downloaded, which is useless in the mountains. What part of Colorado were you in?

Yeah, @morgan.jason, read that happens a lot with those apps.

Sounds about right. My sense of direction is so bad I'd probably still get lost with a paper map and a guide.
