Showerthought: a ranger at Glacier pointed at the map and said the trail I planned was a goat path
Back in 2016 I had a whole route planned out of Many Glacier with a paper map and a highlighter, feeling pretty good about myself. A ranger named Dave leaned over the counter, put his finger on Iceberg Lake trail and said the lake wasn't the part people remember, the switchbacks before it were. He was right, and now every trip I plan starts with what the climb feels like, not which lake is at the end. Anyone else here plan routes around the hard parts instead of the views?
