A guy at the Cedar Rapids gun show dismantled my 'stats never lie' take using one table of rifle prices
I used to repeat that line about how a chart doesn't care about your feelings whenever a bad take went around. Then last month at a show in Cedar Rapids, a vendor named Dale walked me through a table of used rifle prices and showed how the same chart could swing 30 percent depending on which five guns you picked. He didn't yell or dunk on anyone, he just asked which guns I would leave out and why. Now when I see a chart doing the rounds, who picked the data points feels like the whole ballgame.
