A guy in Columbus showed me a viral 'study' that tested 9 people and now I check sample sizes on everything
My neighbor sent me one of those hot takes about how walking 10,000 steps is a myth, and the only source was a study with 9 people in it. I ran that by my buddy who did grad work at Ohio State, and he pulled up the actual paper, which was 9 guys in a lab for 2 weeks. How many of you actually click through to the original study before believing the headline?
9 people? That's not a study, that's a dinner party. I looked up one of those step count papers myself last year and the sample was 16 people, all men, average age like 22. You can't tell the whole world to toss their Fitbit based on a handful of college kids walking around a lab for two weeks.
