A viral post said you only need 3 roof nails per shingle, so I counted the nails on my own garage roof
I saw a post on Facebook claiming 3 nails per shingle is all you need, and it got 40,000 shares, so I climbed up on my own garage in Tulsa last Saturday with a magnet and counted 312 nails across 96 shingles. Turns out the guy was wrong because he never mentioned that the nails have to sit in the nail line, not above or below it, and half the roofs I fix fail right there. So my question is, how many of you actually check the nail placement on a repair, or do you just trust whoever put it up?
