Hot take: the $3 parking meter app saved my trip to Austin
Last month I drove to Austin for a show and hit the curb parking zone on 6th Street. A meter maid with a clipboard told me the meter was broken and I should use the city app or get a ticket. I laughed at the idea of paying $3 to park for free, then got a $60 fine 40 minutes later. Now I download the parking app before I even leave the house. Has anyone else gotten burned by trusting a broken meter over a stupid app?
The meter maid is the real gatekeeper here, they know exactly who's about to get burned. Once you've paid that stupid fee once, you never look at a broken meter the same way again.
