I spent 2 years screenshotting bad takes before I started writing down who said them and why, and it changed how I argue
For a long time my only move with a bad take was to screenshot it and drop it in a group chat with a caption like "can you believe this." That was it. I had maybe 300 screenshots stacked in one folder on my phone and I could not tell you what half of them were about. Then about 6 months ago I got into it with a guy on a gardening forum who said you should never water tomatoes in the morning, and I went looking through my folder for backup and found nothing useful. So now when I see a take worth keeping, I copy the actual text into a note and add three things: who posted it, the day I saw it, and the one sentence reason it falls apart. Sounds like homework but it takes 40 seconds. The weird part is writing the reason forces me to check if I actually disagree or if I just did not like the person's tone. Last month I pulled up 9 of these notes to answer a comment and two of them turned out to be takes I now agree with. So my question is, how do you all keep track of the bad takes you find? Notes app, bookmarks, nothing at all?
