Kept a VHS of a 1987 family sitcom for 6 years because the laugh track was off by half a second
Found the tape at a garage sale in Reno back in 2019 for a quarter, mostly because the label just said "TV" in marker. Turns out it was three episodes of a sitcom that got cancelled after 9 weeks, and you can hear the laugh track hit like a full beat after every punchline. I timed it once with my phone, it's about 0.4 seconds late, and after a while it stops being annoying and starts being the funniest part of the show. My roommate hates it and calls it "the haunted chuckle" but I've watched it maybe 40 times now, usually late on Sundays. There's this one scene where a guy drops a cake and the laugh comes in so late it lands on the next line of dialog. Does anybody else have a comfort watch that's bad in one specific way you can't get enough of?

My buddy Dave has a DVD of a 1994 cooking show where the host's mic cuts out every time he says "simmer," so you just see his mouth move. He's watched it so many times he does the silent word along with it now. Something about a small glitch makes a show feel like yours somehow.
