The February bake sale that almost broke my mixer

I had to re-cream the butter and sugar for a double batch of chocolate chip cookies at 6am because my kitchen was too cold. The dough came out gritty and flat, but my neighbor swore they were the best she'd had. Anyone else fight with cold kitchens this time of year?
