Showerthought: My grandma's old KitchenAid stand mixer from the 70s is still going strong, but I almost gave up on baking after that birthday cake disaster at my cousin's wedding in 2019.

I was in charge of the cake for my cousin's wedding at a park in Dayton, Ohio, and the buttercream melted into a soupy mess because I forgot the tent was 90 degrees and now I always check the weather forecast twice before committing to frosting.

Hard disagree on the whole "never give up on baking" part. The real lesson here is that some things are better left to the pros (you know, people who actually check the temperature before making buttercream). Maybe that melted cake was the universe's way of telling you to stick to box mixes and store-bought stuff (which honestly taste fine).
