Hot take: that barber show off the highway messed up my whole clipper game

I stopped at that new shop near 5th and Main last Tuesday cause I was in a pinch... needed a quick trim before a wedding. Guy used some cheap blade oil that gummed up my Andis Master right after I got home. Took me three hours to scrub the gunk out of the housing and realign the blades. Now I only trust the stuff from the old supply house on Elm Street... has anyone else had a bad run-in with random products from other shops?

Gotta push back on this one, I think the cheap oil did you a favor by exposing how often you should be cleaning your clippers anyway. Bought some no-name spray from a gas station once and my Masters ran fine after a quick wipe down, so user error might be the real issue here. Blaming the product instead of bad maintenance habits is exactly why barbers waste money on overpriced supply house stuff when simple alcohol and light oil work just as good.

Stopped by a shop near the mall a few months back to pick up some spray because I was out. Came home and my clippers started chattering like crazy. Turned out it was leaving a film on the blades that made them drag. Had to soak everything in lighter fluid to get it off and then relube with my normal stuff. Bet they were selling the same cheapo blade oil you got. Won't buy maintenance stuff from anywhere that isn't a real barber supply anymore.

Lighter fluid, @kimw57? That's wild. I'd be scared of ruining the plastic housing messing around with that stuff. Glad it worked out for you though.
