Old clipper oil vs. the new stuff, am I the only one...

I used to just dunk my blades in that cheap clipper oil every morning, never cleaned the build-up off first. Switched to a spray-on cleaning and a drop of the good oil after each haircut about 2 years back, and my blades last way longer now. Anyone else notice their tools making it past 6 months without that harsh grinding sound?
