That $180 clipper upgrade I fought my shop owner about actually paid for itself
My boss at the shop in Fresno kept pushing me to swap my old clippers for a better pair, and I dragged my feet for almost a year because I figured it was just him trying to get me to spend money I did not have. I finally dropped about $180 on a decent cordless set back in March, and I was ready to eat crow if it flopped. Turns out the old ones were dragging through thick hair and slowing me down on every fade, and the new set cut my chair time by a good five minutes per head. Five minutes does not sound like much until you stack it over a full Saturday, and it brought my wrist pain way down since I was not fighting the blade anymore. The thing I still push back on is the crowd that says you need the top shelf model with every attachment, because the mid range pair I got does everything I need and then some. I get why folks stay loyal to the gear they know, but I think we get too attached to old tools just because they still turn on. Who here has made the cheap to mid range jump and felt it in their hands by the end of the day?
