Stop putting pebble floors in your shower, they're a nightmare to clean

My buddy in Austin remodeled his bathroom 6 months ago with a pebble floor from Home Depot and now he's complaining about mold growing between the stones. I warned him when he picked it out that grout on those things is impossible to keep clean. Has anyone here actually dealt with a pebble shower floor for more than a year and not regretted it?

Heard from a tile contractor on a podcast that the main issue isn't even the pebbles themselves, it's that the grout needs to be a special epoxy kind instead of the regular stuff. He said most people use standard grout and it just soaks up soap scum and mildew like a sponge. My sister had one for two years and she ended up scrubbing it with a toothbrush every weekend, which is just crazy. She finally had it ripped out and put in large format tiles and said it was the best decision ever.

Oh man, I gotta push back on that! We've had a pebble shower floor for like 6 years and it's honestly the best thing ever. The trickle-down massage feeling is amazing and we just spray it down with a daily shower cleaner, no scrubbing. I actually feel like it hides dirt way better than big tiles where every little hair shows up.
