Carried an extra 2 liter bag on the stretch near Idyllwild last spring just for this reason. Got lucky that a trail angel came through a day later and filled it, but the note helped them know it was a priority stop. It sucks that some folks treat this like a store, but adding your own supply when you can and reporting it to the PCTA hotline actually moves things along faster than just getting mad. Trail angels watch those lists, so a quick call or text gets a refill out to the desert sections way quicker than hoping someone stumbles on it.

July 2nd I checked that same clip and the ear shadow thing just doesn't hold up for me, because lighting from a window can shift shadows in real time without the head moving much at all. You're basically betting your whole call on one angle of light that the average editor can fix in two minutes with a simple mask. I trust audio lag way more than any body part, people rarely think to sync the room tone when they patch words together.
