That $12 tube of caulk failed on my shower tile after 5 weeks and water got behind the wall
Pulled the old caulk off my shower surround back in April and redid the whole seam with a cheap tube I grabbed at the hardware store on a Sunday. Five weeks later I noticed the line pulling away near the drain end, and when I pressed on the tile it squished. Cut the drywall open and the paper backing was soaked 8 inches up, so now I'm replacing a chunk of greenboard I did not plan on touching. Turns out I laid it over a damp joint and never let it dry all the way. What do you guys use for shower seams that actually holds up, and how long do you wait after a shower before caulking?
