A guy in a parking lot said my 'before' pics were fake because the lighting was too good, so now I shoot floors at 6am
Back in March I posted a before/after from a job in Albany, just a hallway of beat up oak I brought back with a drum sander. Got 200 likes, whatever. Then some guy comments 'no way that's the same floor, you changed the lighting.' He ran a refinishing page with 40k followers so everyone piled on. I was mad for a day, then I looked at my pics and he was right. I had two halogen work lights pointed straight at the fresh coat so it looked like glass. After that I started shooting at 6am with just the window light, one pic at the same spot before and after, same camera settings. Boring as hell but nobody argues anymore. The funny part is that comment got screenshotted and passed around when the whole 'fake before afters' thing blew up in the trade groups later that spring. Anyone else get called out early on something that turned out to be a whole trend?
