I almost bought a $240 Magic: The Gathering card in 2019 and passed. Now the deck it went in is a known thing
Back in 2019 I was at a card shop in Minneapolis and had $240 in my pocket for a Commander deck. The owner kept pushing one card, a foil rarity from an older set, said the format was about to get big thanks to a new show on YouTube. I picked a stack of cheap staples instead because the fancy one felt like a gamble. Two years later that same card was selling for over $900 and people were posting about the deck list on every channel. My cheap staples are still sitting in a box somewhere. What single purchase did you skip that later blew up, and do you still think about it?
Watched my buddy buy a Black Lotus back in the day for like $300 and I laughed at him for spending rent money on cardboard. Joke's on me, I spent my money on beanie babies instead. Still think about that one every time I see his smug face at game night.
