Hit my first 500 mile week on the bike and it felt different this time
Used to just ride whatever felt good, maybe 30 miles a week if I was lucky. But after I started tracking my routes in February, I noticed I was barely climbing any hills. So I switched to a dedicated training plan, the one from the local bike shop guy named Pete. Six months later I'm doing 500 miles in a week and my average speed went up 3 mph. Did anyone else have to completely change their approach to see real gains in cycling?

Felt different this time" - sounds like you're trying to sell me something, honestly. I went from 20 miles a week to 150 and yeah my speed went up a bit, but 500 seems like overkill unless you're training for something specific. Most of us have jobs and families, you know? I'm curious what your average daily commute or life schedule looks like to fit that in. Are you sleeping less or just ignoring your social life?

...and honestly I think you're looking at it wrong. Some of us just like having big goals for ourselves, not everything's about a race or a commute. I work full time and still find time for longer rides because I make it a priority, not because I'm ignoring people. 500 miles in a week is a huge personal achievement and it's okay to be proud of that without needing to justify your schedule to anyone else.
