A stranger at a bar called my Bob Dylan impression 'aggressively average', now I cant unhear it
Last Saturday I was at this dive in Pittsburgh with friends, doing my usual thing where I rant about how Dylan gets way too much credit for being a 'poet' when half his lyrics sound like a college kid who just discovered dictionaries. Some guy next to me, mid-sip of his cheap beer, goes 'you know you sound aggressively average when you talk about him, right? like you have the same 3 complaints everyone has. at least hate him for something weird.' And he walked off. Now I cant stop thinking about it. Every time I bring up Dylan I just repeat myself. So I changed my whole angle. Now I focus on how he ruined his own legacy by doing 47 covers of the same tour in 2004 with that nasal harmonica. Has anyone else gotten roasted into a better take on a dead celeb? I need material that isnt the same old "he couldnt sing" junk.

Did you ever read that book chronicling the 1975 Rolling Thunder tour? It basically lays out that Dylan was already phoning it in back then, but he was so coked up nobody could tell. That's the real angle, he's been the same guy for fifty years, just with less hair and worse suits. The harmonica thing is good, but you gotta go deeper, like how he started wearing that stupid white hat everywhere and suddenly thought he was a cowboy. Try roasting his voice on that gospel album, it sounds like a man gargling gravel while his cat walks on the piano. That'll get you a reaction way faster than the "he mumbles" stuff.
