Caught myself pretending to love Bob Dylan just to fit in at a dinner party

Last month in Austin, someone at a gathering asked my take on Highway 61 Revisited and I went on about it being a masterpiece. Truth is, I've tried 5 different albums across 10 years and his voice just grates on me. It hit me that I was performing appreciation instead of actually feeling it. Anyone else ever realize they were faking a whole artist's legacy just to look smart in a room?
