I finally took a stranger's rant about Marilyn Monroe seriously

Guy at a bus stop in Cleveland said her whole legacy is just three movies and a tragic story, so I rewatched all her films last month and honestly he was right, why do we still treat her like some untouchable genius when the actual acting is mid at best, anyone else feel like we're just romanticizing her death instead of her work?

Read somewhere that her famous "Happy Birthday" performance was basically her drunk and slurring, and people called it iconic instead of a mess. That kind of sums up how we've turned everything about her into a story instead of looking at the actual work.

The drunk slurring was part of the performance, not a mistake.
