Lost $120 on a bluetooth torque wrench that lied to me
Bought one of those cheap smart torque wrenches last spring for $120 and trusted it on a carbon stem. It clicked at 5nm but the bolt was actually at 8nm, stripped the threads on a brand new $90 bar. Anyone else had a digital tool give them bad readings and cost more than it saved?

Digital stuff fails in a way that's hard to catch because it acts so sure of itself. A beam wrench you can watch bend, a click type you can feel the snap. A screen just says 5nm and you trust it. I had a cheap digital caliper that read 2mm off and I scrapped a bunch of good cuts before I figured it out. The real cost isn't the tool, it's what it wrecks when you believe it.
