Hot take: Comedies getting too serious is wrecking my binge weekends

I've noticed sitcoms now feel the need to add heavy drama to every season. It's like they're afraid to just be funny for a whole episode. That new show about the friend group spent half the season on a breakup arc. I mean, when I sit down to binge, I want to relax, not get stressed. Maybe it's just me, but constant sad moments kill the mood for watching multiple episodes. Even older comedies had balance, but now it's all tears and lessons. It makes it hard to enjoy back-to-back without feeling drained.

Actually, I like when comedies have some real drama mixed in.

Yeah, I'm right there with you! Comedies that have those serious moments just hit different. Like, I rewatched 'The Office' recently, and the parts with Jim and Pam's struggles felt so real. It made the funny stuff even better because you care about the characters. What's a comedy with drama that you've enjoyed lately?

Man, my friend just finished Bojack Horseman and said the comedy parts just made the heavy stuff hit her harder. She was surprised how sad a cartoon horse could make her.
