Three episodes in and I finally noticed the dual timeline trick

I was watching this crime show last night and got confused when a character aged backwards between scenes, took me 3 episodes to realize the whole thing flips between 2005 and 2019. I always skip intros so I never saw the year cards, that's what tipped me off when I finally let one play. Anyone else miss basic stuff like that because you skip the opening credits every time?
