Ran my forge grate through 3 cycles of ash and vinegar over 10 days and the scale just fell off
Switched from grinding it clean to soaking it in a 50/50 ash and vinegar paste, brushing it off each morning, and by day 10 the fire scale peeled off in sheets with almost no elbow grease, so has anyone tried this on thicker stock without pitting the surface?

Dang that's wild, 10 days feels like forever though. Did you notice any surface pitting at all on the thinner stuff before you tried it on the thicker stock? And how thick are we talking, like 1/4 inch or way beefier than that?
