Our Sunday game night imploded over a missing dice bag
I host a weekly group at my place in Portland, and last Sunday we had 6 people ready for a 4 hour Eclipse session. About 30 minutes in, I realized the bag with the custom dice I ordered back in March was gone, probably left at a cafe after a demo night. We spent 20 minutes tearing through my closet and the couch cushions, then everyone started checking their own bags like it was a crime scene. The dice were a $45 set with a galaxy swirl pattern, and the store that made them shut down in July, so I can't even reorder them. We switched to a filler game but the mood was shot, two players left early. Has anyone else lost a key piece like that and found a decent backup source for custom dice?
Wait, the dice maker shut down in July? That's brutal timing. I felt actual pain reading that part, like losing a piece of your gaming history. I had a similar gut punch when my favorite metal d20 got stepped on at a con, the artisan who made it vanished off Etsy a month later. Have you tried hitting up local game store buy/sell groups or the subreddit for your specific dice style? Sometimes collectors hoard extras and will part with them for a reasonable price.
