Showerthought: sleeved my whole Catan set and now the box lid won't close, should I ditch the insert or the sleeves?
Two weeks ago I finally caved and bought 300 penny sleeves for my beat up Catan set, mostly because the resource cards were getting that gross white edge wear from 40 plus game nights. Now the box lid floats about half an inch high and my wife keeps asking why the shelf looks broken. Option A is to toss the plastic insert and bag everything, but then the hexes slide around and the whole thing feels like a junk drawer. Option B is to just unsleeve half the deck, which feels like admitting defeat after I already dropped 12 bucks on the sleeves. I tried rubber banding the lid down but it bulges weird and honestly it looks sketchy on the shelf. What do you all do when a game outgrows its own box, and does anyone have a storage hack that doesn't involve buying a 40 dollar custom insert?
