The man who timed my Catan moves at a local tournament in Spokane
Last fall at a small meetup in Spokane, a guy in a full wizard robe sat across from me and pulled out a stopwatch every time I touched my resources. He said 'you have 45 seconds per turn, that's the tournament standard' and then wrote down my time on a little notepad after each roll. I lost by 2 points but he shook my hand and told me my next game would be faster, has anyone else run into a self-appointed rule enforcer like that?

Three years ago a dude in Portland tried to card me for a Magic draft, my grandma's ID, still lost.

Man, that stopwatch thing is next level weird, but at least he was consistent about it. Sounds like he cared more about the clock than the game itself, which is a bummer for everyone else at the table. You handled it way better than I would have, I'd probably still be arguing with that wizard about it.
