TIL a game cafe in Austin runs a full campaign night with zero talking

I was in Austin last weekend and stopped by this place called The Dice Tap on 6th Street. They had this event where the whole room plays the same cooperative campaign, like Gloomhaven or something similar, but the rule was no verbal communication. Only point, nod, or pass cards. I sat in for one round and it was wild how much we got done. The owner said they started it 7 months ago because too many groups argued over strategy. Has anyone else tried a silent gaming night? I feel like it would either fix my group or break it for good.

7 months is a long time to keep that going without someone snapping. I gotta ask, how do they handle the rules lawyering type players, the ones who always want to argue about line of sight or what a card actually does? Seems like the whole thing would fall apart the second someone points at the wrong tile and everyone else just has to guess what they meant. I’d be the guy who accidentally points at the wrong monster and we all end up fighting the ghost instead of the goblin. Honestly, I think my group would last maybe 20 minutes before someone just yelled out of pure frustration.
