Criticized for skipping the tape measure, 5 months later I admit he was right
Old timer on my crew in Gary chewed me out for trusting my eye on a fit-up. Said I was costing us rework even if it looked close. I brushed him off, but after two callbacks on the same tank seam, I started measuring every single pass. Now I check gaps and level twice before I even strike an arc. Took me 5 months to see the pattern, but my fit-up time dropped by almost a third. Anyone else have a foreman that drove you nuts but turned out to be bang on?
