Watched a guy in Gary, Indiana roll a tube sheet by hand in 1998 and it changed how I check every fit up
Back when I was a young hand on a shop job in Gary, an old timer named Walt rolled a tube sheet by hand instead of using the power roller, and it came out dead straight while mine had a wobble I never noticed. I spent the next 20 years eyeballing every seam the way he did it that day, with a light behind it and a straight edge, instead of trusting the machine to tell me it was good. Does anybody else still do the light trick on tube sheets, or is that just an old shop habit nobody teaches anymore?
