Rant: Our book club's vote on "The Nightingale" was a total disaster last month
We had 12 people in the group and 4 wanted to read it, 3 were against it, and the rest didn't care. The moderator insisted on a majority vote but didn't count the undecided people. So we started reading it and half the members dropped out because they hated the topic. Now we're stuck with a book nobody wants to finish. How do you handle vote splits where nobody wins?

Honestly I kind of see it the other way... the moderator did it right by not counting the undecided people because they literally said they didn't care. If you force them into a vote they might pick something they actually hate just to break a tie and then you're in the same boat. Maybe next time try a ranked choice thing where everybody lists their top 3 books and pick the one with the highest average score. That way the people who felt strongly got to have their say but the middle ground people still had some influence.

@jake_patel nailed it, ranked choice saved my hunting group from the SAME exact mess last year.
