Skipping character analysis almost ruined our book club debate

We rushed into talking about the plot without looking at why characters acted the way they did. It led to a huge disagreement where nobody could agree on the book's message. I now make sure to list out each character's key traits before we start debating. This has made our talks much smoother and more productive. Trust me, don't skip this step like we did.

My friend's book club almost fell apart over a misunderstood villain. They spent a whole meeting yelling about a plot twist that made no sense without the character's backstory. She said they saved the group by agreeing to always discuss motives first.

Wow Lily_black, your friend's club nearly had actual bloodshed over book motives.

Nah, overthinking characters kills the fun. Sometimes you just gotta argue about the plot. Makes it more real.
