Ugh, we had that happen with a book on factory farms... total meltdown. What finally worked was picking another book on the same big topic, but from a writer with a lighter, funnier tone. Our club still got to talk about the heavy stuff, but the mood in the room was totally different and way less fight-y. We read this one by a guy who tried to live zero-waste, and his funny fails managed to keep everyone talking without yelling.

Sheesh, people nearly fighting over books is wild.
