My sewn headbands finally stopped gapping after I changed to thicker thread

I switched from waxed linen to a buttonhole twist last month on three commissions and the difference in how tight the bands sit against the spine is night and day, has anyone else noticed that thinner threads just let the bands loosen up after a few opens?

Gotta ask, is it really that big of a deal? I mean, my bands gap a little sometimes and i just adjust them, never really thought about the thread thickness. But hey, if it works for you, cool.

And here I was thinking my bands were just being dramatic every time they gaped, turns out they were just hungry for thicker thread. Maybe I should start feeding mine buttonhole twist and see if they stop throwing tantrums mid-open. Honestly, at this point my headbands have better mood swings than I do.
