TIL my grandmother's old bone folder beat every expensive one I own

Last weekend I was helping my mom clean out her attic and found my grandma's 40 year old bone folder, just a plain cow bone handle with a worn tip that fit my hand perfect. I used it on a leather spine that afternoon and the crease came out SO clean, makes me wonder if I've been overthinking tools this whole time. Anyone else got a hand-me-down tool that outperforms your modern gear?

...and honestly that reminds me of my dad's old adjustable wrench, the one with the cracked red handle that he used for everything from plumbing to fixing the lawnmower. I bought a fancy ratcheting set a few years back and half the time the teeth slip or the mechanism jams, but that old wrench just bites down and holds. It's got this perfect worn groove where his thumb always sat, so it feels like it was made for my hand even though I'm pretty sure he got it at a garage sale for two bucks. Tools like that carry the memory of use, not just the function, and I think that wears in a certain way no factory finish can fake.
