PSA: Don't waste $60 on those "AI detection" tools like GPTZero

I paid $60 last week for a month of GPTZero thinking it would catch all the AI posts in my forum. It flagged my own writing as bot text three times in a row. Anyone else find these tools are just a total scam for real-world use?

Guess my writing style is just robot-level boring then.

Betting these tools are just guessing based on patterns that change every week.

Ray, you say "patterns that change every week" and I think there's something deeper here. These detectors don't just look at word patterns - they analyze things like sentence rhythm and how often you start sentences with the same word. My nephew is a writer and he showed me that his favorite author writes with a very specific ratio of short to long sentences that a human would never notice but the tool flags instantly. So it's not that the patterns change, it's that human writing has consistent fingerprints that even we don't recognize in ourselves. The real issue is whether these tools are accurate enough to tell the difference between a natural pattern and a copycat.
