Unpopular opinion: The weird 'human' comment that got me flagged as a bot took 4 days to sort out
So I run a small Etsy shop selling handmade keychains, and last Monday a customer left a review that said 'great item, fast shipping, thanks!' with a smiley face. Two days later I got a message from Etsy saying my account was locked because they thought I was a bot. Turns out the review was flagged by some new system that looks for 'unnatural language patterns' and my generic reply of 'Thank you for your kind words!' got me put in a holding queue. I tried to appeal through their chat and kept getting the same copy-paste answer from a support agent named 'Alex' who I'm 90% sure was a bot himself because he answered in 2 seconds every single time. It took 4 days of me sending screenshots of my actual hands making the keychains (and my messy kitchen table) before a real person named Diane from the trust team emailed me and fixed it. Diane said the flag was a mistake and that my appeal got stuck because I used the word 'appreciate' three times in a row. Has anyone else had a real human review get them flagged as a bot, and did you ever find out what word or phrase set it off?
