My buddy in a Discord server said 'no real person uses semicolons in a text' and now I can't unsee it in bot replies
He told me this about 6 weeks ago and I kind of brushed it off, because I use them sometimes when I'm typing fast on my laptop. But then I started actually watching for it in YouTube comment sections under political videos, and I swear 9 out of 10 comments with a semicolon in a casual reply felt off. Like 'Thanks for this; it really made me think' from an account with 3 followers and a default avatar. Real people typing on a phone just throw a comma in there, or a period, or nothing at all. I tested it by scrolling 200 comments on a video about a car wreck and every single semicolon reply had generic praise and no details about the actual crash. Am I reading too much into punctuation, or has anyone else noticed this one too?
