My neighbor swears coffee grounds turn hydrangeas blue in Ada, Oklahoma, but my soil test sheet says otherwise
She dumped a whole Folgers can around her mophead every 2 weeks for a year and her blooms came out pink as ever, while my 3 plants in the same clay got blue after I worked in aluminum sulfate at 1 pound per 10 square feet back in March. I keep saying it's the pH, not the grounds, and she keeps saying her grandma did it that way, so now the whole block is split on who's right. Has anyone here run a side by side with grounds versus sulfur or alum, and did the grounds do anything at all for you?
