TIL I was watering my monstera wrong for like 8 months
So I got this monstera from a coworker last year and it always looked kinda sad. Leaves droopy, some yellow spots. I kept watering it every 3 days like my pothos. Then my sister came over last weekend and was like "uh you know these things like to dry out between waterings right?" I felt so dumb. Now I wait until the top 2 inches of soil are bone dry and it perked up in like a week. Has anyone else had a plant that was actually way easier once you stopped babying it?

Ugh I feel this so hard. My snake plant was basically swimming in water for months until a friend told me they're succulents and barely need anything. Now I just ignore it and it's thriving more than ever. It's wild how some plants just want to be left alone.

I killed my first peace lily by watering it every single day because I thought "lily" meant it needed a lot of water. It basically turned into mush before I figured it out. @zara_sanchez I think we're both in the "overcaring plant killer" club. Now I have a calathea that I lowkey water with a dropper like a science experiment cause I'm terrified of drowning another one.

Haha the dropper method is genius actually. I think the real secret nobody talks about is that most houseplants die from kindness not neglect. Maybe we need a support group for people who love their plants too hard.
