Rant: the folding chair from the flea market that gave out at my cousin's wedding

I grabbed this metal chair from a flea market near Dayton for $15, figured it was fine for the backyard. At the wedding reception, my uncle sat down and the leg just folded sideways, he hit the ground with a plate of pasta in his lap. It had no weight limit sticker, no brand name, just rust painted over, and when I flipped it over the weld was cracked clean through. Now I bring a flashlight to any secondhand deal and check every weld before I hand over cash, has anyone else gotten burned by furniture that looks sturdy but is secretly toast?
