The salesman at Home Depot in Newark swore that epoxy spray would fix my cracked kayak, but it peeled off after one paddle session
He said 'this stuff bonds like nothing else' and I trusted him over my buddy's warning to just get a fiberglass patch kit, so now I'm stuck with a $34 can of useless goo and a boat that leaks worse than before, has anyone else had better luck with a specific repair tape that actually holds on polyethene?

Remember epoxy only sticks to polyethene if you rough it up with sandpaper first, so that peeling might be on you.
